Hitchcocks Regret - endless intermission...
after a long wait ( too long for Spacejunk And Mark Moldre and the Hitchcocks gang!!!!) we are proud to announce the official release of this great album- these creative lads have combined audio and now visuals ( Shanes latest tech toy plaything ) with their cool ?homestyle? video clips, with oodles of cool and depth. See Mark and live recruit Adam play with Marty and Steve from the church @ the Sandringham in Sydney this November the 28th, then opening for Iota and the Beauty Queens @ Spectrum, Sydney Dec 22nd. These Hitchcocks guys did a brilliant job opening for the church theatre shows in Sydney and Melbourne in October, utilising a cool multi instrumental stripped down approach.
Thanks to all of HR friends for voting at your local radio stations and ABC?s Rage. Their last single (Your) Apathy (Is Killing Me) was featured every weekend for 3 months on Rage and put onto rotation at plenty of stations. Thanks particularly to FBi and TUNE FM.
Tim has remixed a radio version of the new single UWONTSEEMEANYMORE .The band has a new film clip so you will of course be able to download the clip and single from the official site.
Listen out and vote for this the 3rd single UWONTSEEMEANYMORE on local radio.

IOTA- and the beauty queens
A sneak preview of some of the new album 'beauty queen of the sea' OUT NOW produced by the timebandit ... an amazing collection of mostly 1st time takes and jams over and around a brilliant fresh bunch of songs ... tracks were seen performed by tim and iota at the come together festival June 11. ... and now the full band launches the album with shows through November, December and January. Tim has bent his "I only play Live with the church" manifesto and spared some sacred studio hours to put together the Beauty Queens.
The band features guitarist extraordinaire Mark Axiak ( who earlier this year cavorted around the globe with the howling bells ), and was the other main performer on the studio sessions, and a temporary moonlight on bass by Dreamy Lips producer Andrew Sharpe see www.iota.com.au
Dreamy Lips ? 6 tracks have been completed and more to come- vocalists so far include Iota, Dave Ireland, Kristy Peters (sang some great harmonies on Laura Imbruglia?s debut) Julia Stone and Sharpie himself- who claims to be a great kisser. x
iOTA has been and will be again ... Hedwig
after opening at the Clarendon Hotel - Katoomba July , Iota excelled in this new found dream role at @Newtown throughout August? then a season in Melbourne.. rumoured to run again in 2007...check it out www.hedwig.com.au
Church World Tour 2006
Tim disappeared for two weeks in May when the church undertook a whirlwind acoustic tour of Europe taking in Budapest, Dublin, London, Bilbao and Madrid. The Budapest show gave timebandit an opportunity to befriend Hungarian indie rock band Heaven Street 7, who may be inviting him to Budapest in 2007 to produce their ?english language? album for Warner Bros.
Then two months later the band toured for a more extensive 27 shows in the US of A, winding up with a return to ?electric? rock formation in the theatres of Australia in October, essential shows being Tivoli, Enmore and National theatres. The church have just finished a weekend of sessions for a follow up to el momento desuidado, all acoustic and organic and part of Liberations Blue series, with Ted Howard once again in the engineering chair.
See www.thechurchband.com for updates eg special guests with The Pretenders around Australia Jan- Feb 2007
Travis Caudle and the Woodenelves
With a completed album (Spacejunk and the timebandit style) and new live lineup ... Trav and John have surpassed expectation early - winning a few at the Australian Songwriters assoc Awards earlier in 2006, and then they scored the house band slot on Rove early November- all on the strength of the sound of the (still unsigned and released!!) album and a seamless collection of memorable and user friendly tunes www.myspace.com/thewoodenelves
Laura Imbruglia DEBUT album - made n? mixed n? on sale!!!!!
www.lauraimbruglia.com
relatively quick in the making- this album is the first to be recorded and mixed entirely in the newly modified SpacejunkIII, in fact the renovations were done expressly to be able to handle the energetic three piece combination of Miss I and her two boys, Stiffy on bass and Nic K on drumkit.
Timebandit was convinced this was a project to get into when he heard the demo version of the albums centre piece " My OPUS" a stunning 10 minute piano driven tune that traverses genres, keys and time signatures---fallen straight out of the mind and soul of laura dear laura ??1st single "Tearducts" is on the airwaves at the time of writing.
Tracy Redhead
singer songwriter originally from Perth WA, and having teamed up with ex-UK record man Richard Roberts as manager, Tracy has almost completed the long journey of her first "produced-by-another" album, in the almost refurbished spacejunkIII. With some initial loose preproduction "party? sessions and subsequent structured band visits and overdubs, the recording took a break while Tim was in the US, and resumed on his return. All that remains now is an intense mixing week. Tracy in November is touring solo, in support of the 1st single, released in advance of the album?...titled " Lonesome". church videographer Pablo Vasques (USA) and timebandit shot a video for this tune- watch out for it on Rage and Myspace soon.
Astreetlightsong
November and the band have started the album for real-
Set for late Jan early Feb release. Meantime timebandit has the 2 track single Patterns (spaceJunk recording) and Coldest room (cut by Craig homestyledown on the ?farm? ) ready for radio?accompanied by guitarist Sam Brights video debut for Patterns , again ably assisted and shot by Californian Pablo Vasques while he was out here for the church Magnetic Strip tour

The Conference this year was in Perth on the grounds of the University of Western Australia [UWA] It drew together some of Australia's finest playwrights, actors, directors and dramaturgs for two weeks of intensive work-shopping, debate and discussion, culminating in a series of showings [July 12 th - 15 th ]. www.anpc.org.au
MusicNSW
With a little more time to put into musicNSW with co-director Millie Millgate, lots has been happening on that third floor of the troy horse building.
VROOM launched May 25 - now this is an exciting free database for any independent artist as well as the rest of the industry. Its an online database of venues statewide that contains info from venues that play live original music, which venues play what, who the bookers are how/when to contact them. A regional search engine exists in the site so you can develop your own tour circuits and book your own gigs and tours with much more ease. http://www.vroom.musicnsw.com/
On protecting live venues - work is being done on liquor legislation, place of public entertainment licensing and live venue precincts.
On o/s assistance MusicNSW sent a TM to SXSW for the NSW bands, we plan to build on this initiative for next year and create a model that could be used for midem, popkomm and other territories.

As a result of this and more, while still overseeing some business aspects of management for "The church", the Spacejunk team have significantly reduced their roles in the daily and long-term logistical activities of the band, also allowing Tim to concentrate on his musical involvement with the group, and a busy production calendar (including the rebuilding of Spacejunk II studios and the resultant birth of SpacejunkIII ).

Future Sounds: Tim will produce the debut album for Laura Imbruglia ( Chatterbox Records ) through the months of March and April. Work will also continue with Andrew Sharp aka Dreamy Lips, the timebandit and sharpie having fun together as co-producers... see also Production -> Current Projects
The Sound of Elves (the wooden kind) - not much remains to do but mix the debut album for the wooden elf friends of Spacejunk - hailing from Perth means these guys have to plan a long way ahead, and mixing is slated for April this year.

| FORGET YOURSELF RELEASED |
FEB 2004 |
USA TODAY - 3/4 Stars! - "Casual listeners might be surprised to learn that this Australian rock quartet, which made a faint blip on U.S. radar with Under the Milky Way in 1988, has an impressive recording career stretching back 23 years. The band's experience, perseverance and finely honed blend of mood and melody emerges with clarity and grace on this 17th album, in which Marty Willson-Piper's sumptuous guitar and Steven Kilbey's haunting baritone combine to gorgeous effect in a rich and resonant soundscape. The muted drama and lush but unfussy arrangements of standouts Telepath, I Kept Everything, Song in Space and Sealine make Forget Yourself a memorable pleasure. -Gundersen"
San Francisco Weekly - "After many years, the Church has proven itself far more durable than most of the pop-melody-dissing acts of the post-punk era"
OneTel - "Lush, melancholic and reassuringly harmonic....Predictably, the results are magical, but then we said that last time out as well."
Q Magazine - 3/5 stars " Their best album in years, showing there's magic in guitars and tunes yet "
Whammo.com - " It's the carefully planned dynamics and variety of textures that makes this LP one of the best albums for 2003."
All Music Guide - " a tremendous return to form"
Miles Of Music - "Truly more than a return, this fresh, raw collection of self-produced material is exceptional and inspired"
Amplifier - "this album sounds confidently refreshed and relevant...Forget Yourself validates the subtle magic delivered with Starfish" |
