Over a twenty year career The Church have always remained on the fringe of the commercial pop world, occasionally crossing over (Unguarded Moment; Under The Milky Way), but never really losing that inherent underground spirit which has guided their musical odyssey. Earlier this year The Church released After Everything Now This, an album which showed that they have lost neither their knack for crafting dark but accessible pop tunes nor their place in the pecking order of the Oz musical landscape. For Parallel Universe long time producer Tim Powles has remixed the original tracks to include dance beats, whirling synth lines and heavily processed vocal tracks. This is The Church dragged kicking and screaming into the 21^st century, their glorious folk-tinged, minor key melodies breathing fresh life in Powles’ capable hands. The bonus album features a selection of outtakes from the original sessions, making this one for fans and the uninitiated alike.
